Ceremonial grade matcha has only one purpose – for sipping. It’s the highest grade for tea, which is why it’s been used for centuries in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. This grade is produced from the youngest tea leaves that have been carefully hand-picked. The stems and veins of the tea are entirely removed, and then stone grounded into fine powder, at a low temperature to preserve the flavour and benefits. It’s for these reasons that ceremonial grade matcha gets its vibrant colour, fine texture, and naturally delicate taste.
Flavour Notes: Bright green tea flavour with citrus notes.
Serving Size (Lattes): 1 gram per serving.
For baristas: whisk matcha powder with cold milk (or substitute) in pitcher until evenly distributed, then steam.
To make at home: whisk matcha powder with 30-50mL of hot water (under 80C), and top up with more water to desired taste, or milk of choice to make a matcha latte. Enjoy hot or iced!
